Semi-natural habitat patches complement flower strips in protecting pollinators

As part of her doctoral thesis, Vivien von Königslöw observed the biodiversity of insects on the edge of apple orchards on Lake Constance, which were enhanced by natural small structures and flower strips to promote and protect pollinators.

Wild bees need deadwood in the forest

About the publication from Tristan Eckerter's ongoing doctoral thesis, in which he, in collaboration with research teams the Chair of Silviculture and the Black Forest National Park, investigates whether structures such as standing dead wood in forests can help promote the diversity of wild bees.

Improving habitat for pollinating insects

As part of the INTEGRA project funded by the BMEL, a team led by Dr. Christopher Morhart and Prof. Dr. Thomas Seifert from the Professorship for Forest Growth and Dendroecology will show how trees and bushes on agricultural land are suitable as habitats for pollinating insects. Therefor Prof. Dr. Alexandra-Maria Klein and Dr. Felix Fornoff records the flowering and nesting sites of various trees and shrubs. .
