Research

My research interest is on urban ecology, studying pollination, pollinator communities and their response to anthropogenic habitats. I focus on pollination of apple trees and diversity of bees and wasps in residential gardens, in a gradient from urban area towards rural landscapes. I particularly consider relevant to show the public that their gardens can provide valuable nesting and feeding resources, benefiting many pollinator species. That was explored in 2014 -2016 in the project: "Pollinator communities and pollination of apple trees in gardens in an urban-rural gradient". Currently is the focus on the determination of pollinator communities in the project "Hedgerows in appleorchards", and further on I participate in the project: Posh Bee: "Pan-European assessment, monitoring and mitigation of stressors on the health of bees".
